The starting point of each piece of work is usually an aspect of the natural world. As the form begins to emerge and the colour to develop, the painting takes its own course to the unpredictable resolution.
There are painters, Picasso once observed, who transform the sun into a yellow spot; there are others who transform a yellow spot into the sun.
