Claudia Clare 2019

Claudia Clare is best known for her large, slip-painted, narrative pots with a hint of social or political commentary, but she also does landscapes – both urban and rural – and has a particular love of the night time landscape.

Her show with 286 this year includes a selection of landscape pots from Wootton, Oxforshire, where she grew up, and from Tottenham, North London, where she now lives. Margate, her favoured destination for a day at the seaside and famous for its sunsets, also features. The Oxfordshire landscapes are quiet but she finds quietness and even silence in the London ones too, especially in winter.
